Yes, we are to survive on the planet.

We must design where we are going from here.

Everything around us, is a result of a design process.

All of it. 🌈

At any scale; anything we buy, use or make is the final step, of a thought process from a single person.

Undertale is the work of a solo developer Toby Fox.

It had a massive impact on the indie gaming industry.

It sparked a belief system.💫

Sometimes, a large team is needed in order to deliver something game changing.

Here is the iWatch team from Apple.🍎

So, what does design really mean?

How do you even design something? 🤔

Do you just, pick up your favorite pen and go?

Is there a blueprint to follow?📚

Let’s think.☁️

Definition of design, from a wonderful designer is:

“…

the story, the message, the feeling, the connection.

It is design.

The Blueprint to Design

Neri Oxman is an architect and designer at the MIT Media Lab and a professor of the research group Mediated Matter.

After two years in medical school, she switched to studying architecture.

She wanted to embody her scientific knowledge with an artistic style.

Arguably, one of the best contributions of her to the world, is the “Krebs Cycle of Creativity”.

Why?

It’s the e = mc² of design.

Spoiler: It Will Take a Lifetime To Understand (Source: Neri Oxman)

Krebs Cycle of Creativity considers the domains of arts, science, engineering, and design as synergetic forms of thinking, where the inputs from each contribute to the outputs of others.

Although I really don’t want to effect how you understand this marvelous microscope, here is what I think about it:

The world around us is explained, predicted, utilized, and informed by each discipline, and inevitably this is reflected in the designs.

The deeper we go -to the center of the circle- the simpler the approach gets but harder the problem becomes. 🌟

Just food for thought. 🐎

If you want to learn more about Neri, you can listen to her with your own ears, on Youtube or Netflix!

Believe it or not, it’s absolutely free to listen to the world around you and be inspired.😄
